Restricted Weekend Dance and Musical Theatre (vocal) competitions

Our students had an amazing weekend at the Alison's Studio of Dance Restricted solos/Open Impromptus/Musical theatre (vocal) competition held at 4th Wall Theatre, New Plymouth on May 5, 6 and 7.

Dance judges Gentry Simpson and Rose Brownlie enjoyed watching all dancers perform their solos and demonstrate their dancing and presentation skills. Musical Theatre (vocal) was judged by Danica Manson - she was blown away watching the singing talent displayed onstage in the Saturday Musical Theatre session. All judges commented on how they thoroughly enjoyed watching the competitors as well as giving excellent feedback.

Our competition students love having the opportunity to perform on stage and letting their love of dance shine through - as well as learning presentation skills and gaining in self confidence, they also had a great time backstage with their dance friends/family. We're so proud of our students for supporting not only each other, but also students from other dance studios. We would especially like to say a big thank you to our older students who helped out backstage - the comps wouldn't run smoothly without you!

Special mention to the following students who were awarded special awards/encouragement awards - Anneka (Michelle Glover jazz scholarship); Amelie for placing 1st in musical theatre (vocal) 16-18; and the following encouragement awards from the judges - Amelie, Abby, Anneka, Jessica, and Darnica.

Our students loved getting new dances on stage, saying farewell to old ones, and achieving personal bests, and most importantly, enjoying an awesome weekend celebrating their love of dance onstage, and making friends backstage.

Our Advanced ballet students danced their variations in the entertainment section while the musical theatre judge decided her placings - beautiful dancing, girls!
