We had a busy start to 2025, with new classes, competitions, workshops and community performances. We loved welcoming people back into the studio and congratulate everyone on their hard work and progress in Term 1.

Our senior team went straight into rehearsals for the Multiethnic Extravaganza in March. Eight students worked very hard to learn and perfect a five minute Polish routine to traditional Polish folk music. The girls performed a second time at the TFDA Competitions in April, where they won their category. Their costumes, including headdresses, were handmade by Selene.

Our annual seminar, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, was held at Highlands hall in April. Tutors Elana and Kate taught students their dances and our senior students performed roles so we could tell the story at the end in front of whanau. A big thank you to our narrator Lyn who travelled from Wellington, our two tutors, and our wonderful parent helpers for their time spent face-painting the students as Oompa Loompas and Squirrels. Well done to everyone who took part! We wonder what next year's theme might be...

Our competition students had a big start to the year, dancing in Palmerston North and New Plymouth, where the TFDA held their 50th anniversary competition. We had many new dancers perform for the first time - congratulations! Extra kudos to Jessica, who won her ballet championship, and Briar, who won her tap championship, with Jessica, Briar, and Arabella also receiving special awards from the judge. The 50th celebrations also included a gala night, and graduate student Amelie returned from Brent Street in Sydney to perform. Thanks TFDA for an awesome five days!

Looking forward to Term 2 - with medals for our ballet, jazz and contemporary classes - and also for our adult ballet class.

If you would like to join our dance family you can let us know either by using the Contact form on our website or emailing alisonsdance@gmail.com. We love to pass on our love of dance from 2 yr olds (mini movers), 3 n r 4 yr olds (pre school classes) thru to adults: teaching ballet - jazz - tap - contemporary - hip hop and our adult ballet classes.
