Term 3 at Alison's Studio of Dance was busy ....

Term 3 is always our busiest term of the year - jazz exams, ballet exams, tap, hip hop and modern medals sessions are always held in Term 3. Our competition students also competed in 3 local dance comps - and our contemporary dance class performed a group dance at TFDA comps achieving 3rd place (great result for newbies onstage).

Our first exam session was NZAMD jazz grades in August with all students achieving excellent results. Our fabulous senior Amelie was awarded her Solo Diploma for Jazz and also a NZAMD scholarship nomination - a super achievement to top of Amelie's final year of dance :)

Amelie is looking forward to representing our studio at NZAMD Scholarship Awards in Wellington in November.

Grade 3 Jazz students ready and excited to show off their hard work to our jazz examiner. Love those smiles.

A new aspect this year for jazz exams was the Examiner's Choice of the Shining Star on exam day - and our first Shining Star was Aria (G4 Jazz). Aria sat her first ever jazz grade and was rewarded with High Honours and her Shining Star :)

Lily, Sophia and Neve after being awarded their Senior Stretch Leap and Spin banners by our jazz examiner in August

Georgia, Briar, Lily and Courtney - performing their contemporary group routine Beautiful Things at TFDA Sept comps held in New Plymouth. For Georgia and Courtney it was their first time onstage performing and a huge achievement. :)

The focus for the rest of Term 3 was our ballet grades - hip hop street medals - tap team medals and modern medals with that exam session being held the last week of Term 3 with our examiner Mrs Croad. Some highlights were Amelie attaining Advanced 2 Ballet with Distinction and all 4 of our Classical 1 Ballet girls acheiving Distinction. All our students achieved wonderful results with some students sitting their first ever exam - some of them being very nervous but all coming out of the exam room with happy smiles.

First ever exam for Wenxue, Millie and Nina - and they were soo happy when they came out after showing their ballet work to Mrs Croad :)

Excited Primary ballet girls :)

Tap team girls ready to perform their Silver medal routine for Mrs Croad - practising their smiles :)

Senior hip hop girls ready to show Mrs Croad their fab hip hop routines for their street dance medals.

Also in Term 3 our competition students performed in 3 local dance comps held in New Plymouth and Hawera - some highlights are Championship wins for Jessica and Amelie along with special awards and scholarships for several of our students. All our students let their love of dance shine on stage while showing off their hard work and also have great fun times backstage.

Four of our wonderful students are in this shot - which was snapped as Jessica's name was called for Age Presentation winner at TFDA comps - Abby, Jessica, Arabella and Isla all looking beautiful

Finally a pic of our fabulous senior Amelie who has competed for 11 years in dance competitions (and singing) and was farewelled by TFDA at her last Sept comp - Amelie is pictured with one of our teachers Selene. A wonderful farewell to an amazing senior student and we cant wait to see where Amelie's talent will take her next :)

..and now on to our grand finale for the year - our studio concert on which all classes from age 3 up will be working on in Term 4 - such fun and lots of sparkle to finish off the year :)
